This is a huge mistake to avoid. When it comes to marketing, you want to bring IN new customers and repeat clients.
One huge mistake companies are making is directing new customers and repeat clients AWAY from their own website to a social media platform for updates.
Why is this a big no no?
The reason you create a website is to teach your customers about your products and services so that they can see your work then call, book or buy from you. If you are sending people from your website to a social media platform.... You are sending your prospects and clients to a platform that advertises your competitors.

Facebook, Instagrams, Linkedin, Youtube and other networks make money by selling ads. They do not make money unless their advertising is successful..... SO of course once your prospect leaves your website and visits your social media page ---- they will see a bunch of your competitors in your industry based on the fact that they are coming from your website and going to your social media page.
Social media is a great way to BRING IN clients. Definitely use it but make sure you are directing viewers to your website.
WHEN IS IT OK TO SEND PROSPECTS TO A SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM?
There are very few businesses that should send customers to their social media platform. These businesses (Youtubers/Social Influencers) receive a check/income from social networks. That is their source of income. The more clicks, likes and subscribes they receive, the more money they earn.
Do not put social media links or links to other website on your website, in your blog or on your email blasts. Before you add a link to your website that goes to a different website, ask yourself the following questions.
Is this a good idea?
Why am I doing this?
Will this hurt my business?
Am I directing my customers to a competitor?
